THEORIZING ARCHITECTURE [ARC 61303]
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this module is to engage students with relevant theories which have shaped cities and experience around architecture, including its role as mediator between our society and its architecture. In addition, the module is prepared to provide critical perspectives on key issues within the contemporary discourse of architecture, through integration of case-studies and theoretical studies. It helps to enhance the understanding of the complexity of architecture and the ability to undertake independent research in order to prepare the students to pick up the skill of doing advanced research in future.

LEARNING OUTCOME
I learn to apply theories into daily practice. It also enhance my understanding about ethical issues. Researches and studies are carried out in order to complete the tasks. It helps me to improve my professional practice. Critical and creative thinking is developed during the synopsis exercises, as well as to define and analyse the problems with effective solutions.
PROJECT PART I: ANALYSING 'THROUGH THE EYES' OF AN ARCHITECT/ URBAN DESIGNER/ THEORITICAN
Stage 1: Choose the area for analysis
The site that I have chosen is Bukit Bintang and we are requested to choose a theory from an architect that best suits the area.

Stage 2: Analysis and Interpretation
In stage 2, we are required to write up an essay to justify the theory we had chosen in stage 1.

LEARNING OUTCOME
After completion of this project, we are able to analyse architecture and urban forms in relation to relevant architectural theories. We also learn to analyse and critique the relationship between architecture and its social, cultural and intellectual context. Lastly, we can produce a critical interpretation of architecture and urbanism in relation to relevant theories. Thinking critically and creatively helps to analyse the problems in order to find the solutions during this assignment.
PROJECT PART II: ANALYZING AND THEORIZING ARCHITECTURE
In this project, we are required to choose a building on the site that I have chose earlier and produce a report. Before we start the report, we are required to analyse the building and come up with 3 external factors that affects the building and it can be include 1 or 2 theories. After that, we are to elaborate them in the report using diagrams and pictures. Lastly, we are to compress some of the details of the 3 factors into each A3 boards.

LEARNING OUTCOME
In this project, I learnt to utilize theories into daily practice and able to understand ethical issues. I learnt to extract, synthesize and utilize information effectively in order to produce good quality of work. This project developed my ability of to think and solve problems. The ability to think critically and creatively, problems are analysed and to be solved with effective solution.
